In May 2023, Shoeshiners spent a week in the ATL studio in a village on the banks of the Garonne in the north of Toulouse (France), recording this album.
With the help of host Patrick Arpaillange and Christian Séminor on percussion, they crafted a simple, stripped-down sound that unfolds over 13 songs.
"Daddy you can't" evokes a complicated filial relationship, "Tuba city" a long epic in the Arizona desert, "Plantation woman" the difficulties of a woman exhausted by her job;
"Paradise" the smell of war hanging over Europe. "She was mine" portrays a woman free of all ties, while "Love is a game" tells the wanderings of an american homeless vagabond.
So many different stories, so many different styles, from wild pub rock to quiet folk, with the Shoeshiners' elegant sound as the common thread.
The finishing and polishing work was entrusted to Olivier Cussac of the Condorcet studio, for a vintage analog mastering.
Bang records is proud to present this lovely assemblage of "rock and roll sweeties".
C'est en mai 2023 que les Shoeshiners ont occupé pendant une semaine, le studio ATL dans un village sur le bord de la Garonne au nord de Toulouse pour enregistrer cet album.
Avec l'aide du maître des lieux Patrick Arpaillange et de Christian Séminor aux percussions, ils ont façonné un son simple et dépouillé qui se dévoile sur 13 chansons.
"Daddy you can't" y évoque une relation filiale compliquée, "Tuba city" une longue épopée dans le desert de l'Arizona, "Plantation woman" les difficultés d'une femme épuisée par le travail;
"Paradise" l'odeur de la guerre qui plane en Europe. "She was mine" dessine le portrait d'une femme libre de toutes attaches tandis que "Love is a game" raconte les pérégrinations d'un itinérant américain.
Autant d'histoires différentes accordées avec des styles divers allant du pub rock sauvage au folk le plus calme avec comme fil conducteur, le son élégant des Shoeshiners.
Le travail de finition et polissage a été confié à Olivier Cussac du studio Condorcet, désormais reconstruit dans le Tarn, pour un mastering analogique vintage.
Bang records est fier de vous présenter ce joli assemblage de douceurs rock and roll.
